Paracetamol (acetaminophen)
assay kits

Produced in the UK, endorsed industry-wide.

Endorsed by thousands of healthcare professionals across the industry, our trusted paracetamol testing kits are developed and produced at our UK facility and backed up by expert technical support. All of the paracetamol kits are adaptable for use on a wide range of clinical chemistry analysers.

The Paracetamol assay kits are intended for use in clinical laboratories for detection and quantitative measurement of paracetamol in serum or plasma as an aid to monitor and diagnose paracetamol overdose. It is also suitable (and widely used) for research laboratory settings.

We have a longstanding reliable and accurate Paracetamol Assay Kit with powder and liquid components and now/in future provide our new fully liquid assay kit (K8004), offering the same benefits with added convenience and speed over the K8003/2 range.

Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) is an ingredient in many over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription medicines and preparations; it can cause significant liver damage if recommended doses are exceeded. It is therefore critical to have reliable and accurate diagnostic tools for medical staff to provide the correct treatment therapy.

Overdoses caused by prescription and OTC drugs may be due to:

  • Ingestion of too much of a medication
  • Interaction of multiple drugs
  • A decrease in the body’s ability to eliminate a drug and/or its metabolite. Many drugs are processed by the liver, changing the drug into a different form that can then be eliminated from the body. If the liver or kidneys are not working properly, then the drug and/or its metabolite may build up in the body.

Paracetamol Liquid Assay Kit (K8004)

NEW! Paracetamol Liquid Assay Kit (K8004) – the same ‘Gold Standard’ kit but easier to use…
K8004 is a fully liquid, ready to use assay kit for the fast, accurate and reliable detection of Paracetamol levels.

Benefits

  • Quick and easy to use – liquid assay – no reconstituting necessary
  • Genetically unique enzyme which delivers unparalleled performance characteristics and being recombinant provides unmatched batch to batch consistency of manufacture
  • Reportable range is 3-756mg/L, meaning less dilutions, more time efficient and reduced wastage of reagents. This covers both therapeutic and toxic levels.
  • Long shelf life – 24 months from the date of manufacture, reducing the number of batch changes for the end user.
  • On board stability is 28 days, allowing for reagents to be left on the system.
  • Calibration is every 7 days, resulting in reduced down time and reduced wastage of reagents.
  • There is no interference from up to 1g/L N-acetyl cysteine or Paracetamol metabolites.
  • Next day delivery – we manufacture in-house in the UK and hold stock, reducing the end users need to hold large quantities of stock.
  • Trusted and established products – in use by hospital labs for over 20 years. Cambridge Life Sciences is the Gold Standard Paracetamol assay.
  • Linearity is 0.02 – 5.00 mmol/L (3 – 756 mg/L) using sera calibrators. Sera calibrators, K8100 are available separately too.
  • Protocols provided for multiple clinical chemistry platforms
